Come on, Come on, Get Happy

That's what I think of when I look at Meredith. She is so happy these days, and proud of herself as she is learning to walk behind the push toy. She looks just like her daddy with her winning smile.

Mandre and Oliver

Oliver loves our friend DeMandre. He always looks forward to him visiting, and Mandre is so good to Oliver. There's something very sweet and special about a high school boy who takes interest in a little guy:) Here's a recent picture of the two of them.

Slow Fade

Some situations I've heard about lately have caused me to reflect on a song by Casting Crowns called "Slow Fade."

It's a slow fade, when black and white turn to gray....
People never crumble in a day....it's a slow fade.

I find these words frightenly true. It seems like people don't make catostrophically bad choices because they wake up and randomly decide to. It happens from a series of "small" bad choices that get bigger and bigger until the damage is irrepairable. One more reason I/we need God's grace. Just my thoughts for today.

The Kiddos

Oliver is turning into quite the little man. Last night when Alex tucked him into bed he said, "bless mommy, and help the feeling in her back to get better." What a sweet prayer (maybe I need to stop complaining about my back so much) :) He is a sweet kid, and it's fun to see the world through his eyes.

This picture does a great job of summing up Meredith. She is really playful and has a big smile. She is crawling and pulling up. She gets into everything and has a great time exploring. She is learning to give kisses, and says "da da."

Job

Thankfully, Alex found out this morning that he still has a job. We are so relieved, but at the same time sad for all the many others that got layed off today. Thanks for your prayers and kind words.

Layoffs

If you think of us in the next few days, please pray for Alex's job. He is working at Hawker Beechcraft in production test. Friday the company is going to be sending out notices to layoff up to 2,300 employees. OUCH! This economy is tough, and I'm afraid it's only going to get worse before it gets better. Please pray that if Alex gets laid off that he would find another job, or that a job would work out for me....I kind of have a lead on one if that is what is required.

special spot

Oliver has been under the weather the last few days. Friday, I put a pillow and soft blanket on the couch for him to lay on. I called it his "special spot," and now he can't get enough of it. With his 2 1/2 year old voice, he calls it his "scesial sot." It's almost dinner time, and that spot must be magic, because he's napping as I write this.
